29th Annual New York Tartan Day Parade to take place Saturday, April 10, 2027, following a record-setting 2026 celebration |
NEW YORK — The National Tartan Day New York Committee today announced plans for the 29th Annual New York Tartan Day Parade, taking place on Saturday, April 10, 2027, following the record-setting success of the 2026 Parade, led by Grand Marshal Sam Heughan, Scottish actor and star of Outlander. The Committee also announced its 2027 leadership team, bringing together representatives of the organizations responsible for stewarding one of New York City’s most celebrated expressions of Scottish heritage and culture. Rob Munro, representing the Saint Andrew’s Society of the State of New York, and Camilla G. Hellman MBE, representing the American Scottish Foundation, will jointly lead the Executive Committee. They will serve alongside Dr. Nina Urban, representing the New York Caledonian Club, and Lebby Campbell, representing the Clan Campbell Society of North America. Richard Porter, Chelsea Chateauvert, and Lorraine Bell will support the Executive Committee. The new leadership follows Kyle Dawson’s decision to step down after a decade as President. During his tenure, Kyle oversaw incredible growth in both the scale of the New York Tartan Day Parade and the broader Tartan Week celebration. The Committee extends its sincere gratitude to Kyle for the extraordinary time, energy, and commitment he has given to the organization over the past ten years. His leadership helped strengthen the Parade, expand Tartan Week programming, and build the vibrant community that comes together in New York each April to celebrate the enduring connections between Scotland and the United States. The 2027 Parade will also mark an important milestone as the Committee begins preparations for the 30th anniversary of the New York Tartan Day Parade in 2028. “We are excited to build on the Parade’s legacy and continue expanding New York City Tartan Week as we look toward our 30th anniversary in 2028,” the National Tartan Day New York Committee said. “Our focus remains on bringing together New York’s Scottish community, friends of Scotland, and visitors from around the world to celebrate the extraordinary cultural and historic ties between Scotland and the United States.” Registration for the 2027 New York Tartan Day Parade will open October 1, 2026, with additional programming and event announcements to follow.
