What is a Highland dance competition?
● Competition is the lifeblood of Highland dance in the United States, as it keeps dancers motivated and provides goals and rewards for learning and perfecting dances.
● At a competition, dancers compete in classes based on age and previous competition success. Medals are awarded for the top 6 places and the overall winners in each class receive a trophy.
● Judges evaluate the dancers on timing, technique, and general deportment.
Who will be competing?
● The competition is open to dancers internationally. With each Tartan Week welcoming more and more Highland dancers to the city, the competition provides dancers from around the globe with a chance to compete against new dancers.
● Younger local dancers will have a chance to attend a dance competition for the first time!
Who is hosting the competition?
