India West: Thousands Cheer for Indian American Bagpipe Band

The Shree Muktajeevan Swamibapa Pipe Band, which is the first Indian American traditional bagpipe band, recently performed with nearly 50 other bands from across North America, at the 19th annual Tartan Day Parade in New York City.

The Indian American band was certainly a standout in this year’s parade lineup, sporting a traditional Scottish bagpipe uniform, uniquely accompanied by traditional Indian elements. Thousands dotted the parade route on Sixth Avenue and cheered on as the band entertained with Indian melodies and Scottish favorites.
